Studio Membership For august

• Open to anyone who has taken a class with us (or has equivalent experience)

• Access the studio 24/7 to create, be sure to check member page for best practice times & door code

• Perfect if you need more flexibility than a fixed class time or want to take a month to practice what you learned in class

• No outside clays allowed. Outside glaze allowed with permission. No production/high volume work.

• If you’re sculpt-curious, love birds, or just want to share some creative space and learn something new, this month’s workshop is for you. We’ll be covering some basic sculpting approaches for working without an armature (that will apply to *any* small forms), talking about “believability” & visual anchor points, and learning some fundamental songbird anatomy that will help you sculpt other songbirds as we sculpt a wren at rest. $35 for a 3 hour class on October 24th from 1-pm. October workshop: Sculpt a wren

• If you’re sculpt-curious, love birds, or just want to share some creative space and learn something new, this one’s for you.

• We’ll be covering some basic sculpting approaches for working without an armature (that will apply to *any* small forms), talking about “believability” & visual anchor points, and learning some fundamental songbird anatomy that will help you sculpt other songbirds as we sculpt a wren at rest.

• Word of warning: I always run long because I want to make sure you understand everything and feel comfortable with the material and finishing on your own. Just…a very real head’s up. 

• $35 for 3 hours of instruction on glazing on Saturday, October 24th from 1-4pm

Beginning Wheel Bowls, sunday nights

• Perfect for anyone who took the Cups & Mugs class and wants to complete the Beginning Wheel Curriculum

• Class dates: 4 Sunday nights in October from 7pm to 9pm (on October 4th, 11th, 18th, and the last class will be on the 25th). Remember that this class comes with a free studio membership that lasts until the last day of the month. This allows you to come in outside of class and practice, just be sure to check the member page to know when other class times and parties are before heading in.

Beginning wheel cups & mugs, Thursday Mornings

• Perfect for anyone who took the Bowls class and wants to complete the Beginning Wheel Curriculum (Rob, the owner is teaching this month!)

• Class dates: 4 Thursday Mornings in October from 10am to noon (on October 8th, 15th, 22nd, and the last class is on the 29th). Remember that this class comes with a free studio membership that lasts until the last day of the month. all-levels handbuilding with caryn, Monday Mornings

• Perfect for anyone who is curious about handbuildng, or wants to continue on with handbuilding.

• Class Dates: 4 Monday mornings in October from 10am to noon (on October 5th, 12th, 19th, and the last class is on the 26th), but your free studio membership will run until the last day of the month. This allows you to come in outside of class and practice, just be sure to check the member page to know when other class times and parties are before heading in.

• What will I learn?: This class will cover the basic and intermediate skills of handbuilding. Projects will be student-led with plenty of inspiration for any who need it. Possibilities range from functional pots to sculptures.

Pitchers & Bottles, Monday Nights

• This is 1 of 4 new classes we’ve designed to help fully round out your pottery skills and be ready for anything an advanced class will throw at you.

• Prerequisites for this class: Completion of both Beginner Wheel Cups & Mugs and Beginner Wheel Bowls, or the equivalent experience.

• What you’ll learn: The twin challenges addressed in this class are getting the extra clay out of the lower part of the wall and leaving sufficient thickness at the top to form a bottle’s neck or a pitcher’s spout, how to draw clay in a different direction (inward), and how to make a pouring lip and bottle neck. If you are an intermediate or advanced student, these classes will still work for you if you’re interested in the topic and/or developing your skills.

Int/adv wheel with kyle: Altered Bowls, tuesday nights

• Perfect for anyone who’s ready to push their skills and wants to learn how to think beyond the round & symmetry when it comes to bowls.

• Class Dates: 4 Tuesday nights in October from 7-9pm (on October 6th, 13th, 20th, and the last class will be on the 27th). Remember that this class comes with a free studio membership that lasts until the last day of the month. This allows you to come in outside of class and practice, just be sure to check the member page to know when other class times and parties are before heading in.

• Prerequisites for this class: You must be able to center, pull basic forms, glaze & trim without assistance. We will not be covering foundational techniques in this class.

• What you’ll do: How to start to think beyond “round and done” once you throw it on the wheel. We’ll be looking at working out of round, how to cut the rims of your bowls to add interest and surprise at the top of your form, adding handles to your bowls and we’ll also talk about making batter bowls.

• Perfect for anyone who wants to explore Raku, Obvara, and Horsehair surfaces.

• Class Dates: 4 Wednesday mornings in October from 10:30am to noon thirty (on October 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last class will be on the 28th). Remember that this class comes with a free studio membership that lasts until the last day of the month. This allows you to come in outside of class and practice, just be sure to check the member page to know when other class times and parties are before heading in.

• Prerequisites for this class: You must be able to center, pull basic forms, glaze & trim without assistance. We will not be covering foundational techniques in this class.
