Classes will meet once a
week for four weeks. The materials fee
for ceramic classes covers 25 lbs. of clay and all of the associated firing
costs. Adult classes come with unlimited
open studio time. Additional clay may
be purchased for $30 a bag as needed—use of the glazes and firing is
calculated into the price of clay. INTRODUCTION TO THE POTTER’S WHEEL: Cups and Mugs Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 This class will cover the basics of throwing cylinders and
making good functional handles. You
can expect to create a variety of styles of cups and mugs (e.g. teacup, beer
stein, cafe au lait mug) and fire
them in our stoneware kiln. Sunday,

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM (May 13 – June 3) • Sutherland INTRODUCTION TO THE POTTER’S
WHEEL: Bowls and Plates Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 This class will introduce wheel techniques for creating open
forms such as bowls and plates.
Forming, trimming, surface decoration, and glazing techniques will all
be covered. Monday,
7:00 - 9:30 PM (May 12 – June 2) • Sutherland Thursday,
7:15 - 9:45 PM (May 15 – June 5) • Staff Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 This
open-ended course will allow continuing students to design their own projects
with the help of the instructor. The
focus will be on new techniques and problem solving to create exciting pots
that integrate form and surface. Wednesday,
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM (May 14 – June 4) • Sutherland Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 Learn Allya Macdonald’s
methods for pushing and pulling thrown porcelain forms into lively shapes
with organic lobes and indentations.
Allya will be an outstanding guide to this demanding yet seductive
clay body. Wednesday, 7:00 – 9:30 PM (May 14
– June 4) • Macdonald Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 Instructor Caryn van Wagtendonk will focus on techniques for using majolica (tin glaze)
with colorful stains and washes to create a rich, painterly surface. We will
discuss the many traditions which use this type of glaze surface around the
globe. Our work will be done on terra cotta tiles with the potential for
students to make small murals along the way. Don't worry about your drawing
and painting skills- image transfer tricks included. Wednesday,
7:15 – 9:45 PM (May 14 – June 4) • Van Wagtendonk INTENSIVE: Glaze and Decoration Tuition: $80 + Materials: $40 =
$120 Instructor Rob Sutherland will
cover the fundamentals of glaze application, including wax and tape resist
techniques. We will learn methods to
create functional test pieces for cone 10 and raku firing. Thursday,
7:00 – 9:30 PM (May 15 – June 5) • Sutherland Tuition: $126 for a two month period +
Materials: $40 = $166 Registration is by permission. Individuals who have taken at least one
class at Good Dirt or who have comparable experience may work in the studio
independently. (Additional clay may be purchased for $30 a bag as
needed—use of the glazes and firing is calculated into the price of

WEEKLY TRY CLAY - ALL AGES Tuition:
$20 each participant Did you ever just want to try making something out of clay?
Well, today is the day to do it. Instruction will cover a variety of
techniques. Students will work with terra cotta clay and paint their
creations with colored clay slips. All work will be glazed with a shiny, food
safe glaze. Please call to register for the session of your choice. EVERY
FRIDAY NIGHT, 7:00 - 9:00 PM FAMILY TRY CLAY Tuition: $20 each participant* *SPECIAL
FAMILY OFFER: after first two
family members, additional family members can participate for $10/person. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce your child to
the creative possibilities of clay. An instructor will work with you to
create hand-built projects of your choice. Possibilities include ceramic
piggy banks, special dishes, sculptures, and more. All work will be glazed
and fired in our electric kilns. Please call to register for the
