INSTRUCTORS

 

SHELIA BRADLEY:  Shelia is a full-time studio potter in Bishop, Georgia.  She regularly teaches the Friday ‘Try Clay’ class at Good Dirt and has attended professional development workshops at Penland, Arrowmont, and Shakerag.

CARTER GILLIES:  MFA, University of Georgia, Ceramics.

Carter is a long-time Athens’ studio potter whose wheel work emphasizes the dynamic properties of moist clay while giving careful consideration to function.

ROB SUTHERLAND:  DPhil., Oxford University.

Rob is the owner of Good Dirt Studio and The Gallery @ Good Dirt.  He is dedicated to teaching a variety of subjects to both children and adults.  He creates functional pottery using a wide range of forming and firing techniques.  He is also an accomplished baker, basket maker, and cellist.

CARYN VAN WAGTENDONK:  MFA, Ohio State University, Ceramics.

Caryn's work is primarily sculptural ceramics, and often incorporates other media such as wire, cloth, and found objects. She directed the art department of a custom tile company in Los Angeles for four years.

CRISHA YANTIS:  Relocated to Athens from Seattle, Crisha has studied ceramics for many years focusing on surface design and sculptural form.  Using many hand
