Glass Fusing Workshops with Kim
Sutherland In her winter glass fusing workshops, Kim
Sutherland will introduce the techniques and concepts necessary to complete
the designated project and to gain an understanding of how the glass will
behave when heated in the kiln.
Although the projects are somewhat progressive in degree of
difficulty, students should feel free to take any of the workshops without having
started the series at the beginning.

@ Good Dirt Dear Friends of Good Dirt, I
hope you’re all staying warm. I just wanted to give you a quick
update on winter happenings at the studio and gallery. Our winter 2010
classes begin this week. We still do have some availability in all of
our classes. Check out the winter schedule. Give us a call at
706-355-3161 if you want to get in on the fun. Don’t forget about
our weekend glass workshops if you don’t have time for an 8-week
pottery course. In
keeping with our annual tradition of supporting the Food Bank of Northeast
Georgia, we will be gearing up to produce a record 500 soup bowls for the big
Empty Bowls luncheon to be held on March 17. Come join us to make
bowls, wedge clay, or just cheer on the stalwart potters on Sunday, January
17, from 1-5PM. On Martin Luther King Day the following Monday, we will
be hosting a kids’ out of school workshop from 9AM –
3PM. In addition to making a portrait bust to take home, the kids will
be making bowls to be used as centerpieces at the Empty Bowls Luncheon.
Good Dirt potters will be working throughout the day on January 18 to trim
feet on the bowls made the previous day and to continue toward our goal of
500 bowls. On February 12 from 5-7PM, we will host an opening reception
in the Gallery @ Good Dirt to unveil the dozen or so high-end pots to be
auctioned at the Food Bank’s silent auction on the day of the Empty
Bowls event. |
If you haven’t been by the Gallery lately, now would
be a great time to stop in. We have lots of new work that came in
during the holidays from David Morgan, Kelly King, Nancy Green, Crisha
Yantis, Jeff Bishoff, Ron Meyers, Ted Saupe and many others. We also have some new
potters represented, including Isabel Daniel and Phil Woodhall.
We’re open 7 days a week and are always happy to show
you around and explain the techniques used to create this wonderfully
functional art. Whether through the Gallery or the Studio, I hope you can
come be a part of the clay community here at Good Dirt this winter.
Please don’t hesitate to call or stop by if you have any
questions. Sincerely Yours, Rob Sutherland |
